Engleza de joi/ Steward

Steward = someone who looks after something and protects it.

“Tell the whole truth. Don’t be lazy, don’t be afraid. Close the critic out when you are drafting something new. Take chances in the interest of clarity of emotion.
Be a good steward of your gifts. Protect your time. Feed your inner life. Avoid too much noise. Read good books, have good sentences in your ears. Be by yourself as often as you can. Walk. Take the phone off the hook. Work regular hours.”
Jane Kenyon

I learned the sense of many of those snippets of advice rather late but sufficient of them early thanks to my grandmother – she probably took it from somewhere but “If you tell the truth you do not have to remember what you said” was a guide from an early age. I almost never answer the phone and I’ve always avoided too much noise but closing out the critic and taking chances came later. Have I been a good steward of my gifts? I think so; I hope so.

I have had my share of snippets of advice which I took for granted in the stubborn years of my youth. My grandmother always said to me “Be wise, smart is never enough” 💚 My father’s strongest piece was “Do not squander time”. And in relation to this, “disorganized people lose half their lives looking for lost things”.
So, I am still trying at bettering myself 🙂
