To be in love

The Sea is a fickle lover
One day sweet as
honey dew
The other bitter
like sin…
that makes you
fall harder
as if hit
by a ton of bricks
made of water glass
Sincerity.

It loves you back
with ardor
You have been dissolved…
Both limbs and heart
know no more
than
liquid love
that once was only
words…

Dawn hovering over the Black Sea until the first rays break into so many winged good news:

“Half-monster, half-dreamer”

What are you after?
Money… Success… Fame…Happiness…Dreams…Love…

We are all after money. Whomever cares not about the money has always had it, consequently has no pattern in measuring having or not having it…

Success is in our blood…The difference between success and failure is vision. “When a man is in doubt about this or that in his writing, it will often guide him if he asks himself how it will tell a hundred years hence.”- Samuel Butler

What problems do your dreams solve? What problems will they solve in 15 years-time?

“Man has always been half-monster, half-dreamer.” – Ray Bradbury

Vision is the combination of the dreams of the dreamer and the fears of the monster. Dreamers fight for their dreams, monsters fight the reality (they dread) and shape it to their own liking. Monsters fight with their skills and claws, dreamers with their imagination. More or less monsters make sure that your dreams survive the harsh cold reality…

So travel with your dreams but never forget about the monster’s perspective. As we are all monsters, and it is far easier to make a kind person believe you are kind than make a monsterling believe in your kindness. Monsters believe in monstership…In the ancient times people believed in mythical creatures as they needed to understand the overpowering forces of nature. We, the (post)modern people, know that the monsters are us. We have all the stories, we have a whole sea of stories which is at times poisoned by non-believing, prosaic tiny sea serpents.

Or the monster might command the suffering of the dreamer.
Maybe this is depression. Not believing in your dreams and feeding them to your monster.

“Herbivore” Writing

“Writing is like going to bed with a beautiful woman and afterwards she gets up, goes to her purse and gives me a handful of money.” – Charles Bukowsky

Very difficult to be put in the words of a woman. Writing is like going to bed with a handsome man and afterwards he gets up, goes to the bathroom and then hands in his bloody heart on a silver platter…(??!). Human thought and feeling is always a labyrinth.

Writing must be something of an Iron Tale, must be tough and sincere to the core of human perception of pain as valor. I remain the grumpy T-Rex who started writing out of pain, not necessarily because of a broken heart as it doesn’t break so easily after I have put around it some iron circles. Writing out of love is painless and herbivore*.  As we sometimes taste blood, ours or others’. We live in a cage called life, yet we find shelter and surreptitious haven in the decorations of a masqueraded reality or, when it gets too dire, in our imaginary legendary land.

Methinks some words are so expensive that we are better left with them unspoken or write them with the ink of a Ghost…

There’s no such thing as perfect writing, just like there’s no such thing as perfect despair. —Haruki Murakami

To write with the truth of pain in your mouth is gruesome poetry…You’ll have to cut out your heart with every word and show it to the world, then hope it will heal. This is how the light gets in, also the dark. To acknowledge fear, defeat, despair and pretend serenity of a lesson learned while patching up the wounds is…Life (fragment from my Tyrannosaurus Writing)*.

She says: “Be the one who cares, make words so disruptive that they create new worlds, hopes and dreams. Even if we are unhappy dinosaurs and find shelter in an Iron Tale or ruminate about feeling too much, whilst declaring colorless apparel, we should take power and strength from our stories.”

Legendary lands

“Legendary lands and places are of various kinds and have only one characteristic in common: whether they depend on ancient legends whose origins are lost in the mists of time or whether they are an effect of a modern invention, they have created flows of belief.”- Umberto Eco, The Book of Legendary Lands

The flows of belief are strictly to the core derived from one gulp of air that is tastier and milder than roses’ perfume. What if to weave something that would transport us into the fallacy of an unknown nebula hovering around and yet appealing with secret smells and colors, foods and spices.

The utopian allure is greatly mystifying and powerless in the light of the real. Even the prosperous magic country of the beautiful and kind Phaeacians turned to shreds in the morning when Odysseus woke up to find himself in his beloved Ithaca.

“Often the object of a desire, when desire is transformed into hope, becomes more real than reality itself. Out of a hope in a possible future, many people are prepared to make enormous sacrifices, and maybe even die, led on by prophets, visionaries, charismatic preachers, and spellbinders who fire the minds of their followers with the vision of a future heaven on Earth (or elsewhere).”

Let the legendary land engulf you. Be drowned into it, breathe in the smells, the oddities and the illusion, sing to its music but then leave it. As one cannot buy the perfumes of Samarkand and prepare for the dreary winter.
