Her skin is like fire
her breath, distant desire
Flowers meet
for their annual feast
any time you kiss
her meatiness white…

Her hair comes from the stars
a supernova dust
it shines and coils
and transports
all of you
in a magic land…
Where seas are soft and wild
Winds blow
Of unknown stories
That paint and burn
Sounds
On your skin
That rekindle
Every time

She moves in sight…

United Nations Global Call Out To Creatives – help stop the spread of COVID-19

“We are in an unprecedented situation and the normal rules no longer apply. We cannot resort to the usual tools in such unusual times.

The creativity of the responses must match the unique nature of this crisis – the magnitude of the responses must match its scale.”
– UN Secretary-General, António Guterres

Early Liliac Spring at Spillwords

Spillwords has published my Lilac poem:

Early Lilac Spring
written by: Iulia Halatz
https://spillwords.com/early-lilac-spring/

My secret castle
lies in Spring
at the corner
of vernal vicious winds…
Surrounded by lilacs
and violets blue
Prolonged in the hue
of abstaining pink…

Faces and rivers
smile in the sun
Patience is nowhere to be found
as ethereal blooms
Expect the moons
to ignite from early
copper twilights…

Lilacs are the surreal kisses
of Spring
Clinging like stardust
to butterflies’ wings.
They color the dark
wink to the larks
And wait for the bees
to appease…

She says: “Be the one who cares, make words so disruptive that they create new worlds, hopes and dreams. Even if we are unhappy dinosaurs and find shelter in an Iron Tale or ruminate about feeling too much, whilst declaring colorless apparel, we should take power and strength from our stories.”

Pay with a poem!

Multiple facets
of benevolence, friendship and kindness
have been engraved
on my heart

whose green veins tremble
with happiness and delight
at seeing, reading and admiring
your exquisite words-of-art and flowing imagery
Here…

………………………………………………………………………

Your minds drew letters
Upon my soul
I will wear them always
To humble and subdue
All the shimmers of the world.

This is my modest “payment” for the beauty and joy you have given me through knowing you and your beautiful art and my “currency” in thanking you for reading, appreciating and sharing my words.

I have written this for The World Poetry Day in 2017.

I am reposting in celebration of the opening of the first Poetry Pharmacy in the world – https://www.poetrypharmacy.co.uk/.

Happiness at Medium.com

I am dreaming about a new book…
Writing for the Anthology Volume I: Writings from the Sudden Denouement Literary Collective transported me to another realm, where the moon lights the day, and the sun is always beyond the horizon.

“Happiness is immaculate
and wordless
Happiness is the fire person
Burning for your path
Lighting like the moon
dense and bright and alive
Hoovering on the alphabet blue
of the world
Uncovering a soul into desire
Pulling out a Love
that dissolves and finishes…

Happiness is the love
carved into the bark
that kills pitfalls and
feeds the unicorn-green grass.

Happiness is a father
that lived oceanless
for a daughter to grow
tied to the oceanside.”

Morning Mist at Medium.com

Morning Mist
By Iulia Halatz

The mist that
covers my heart
is thick
numbing mornings
and evenings
with the sagacity
of a cubist artifact.

It comes in layers
clinging with fetid fingers
on to the gargoyles
of the old mansion
our love has become.

No surprise from
any shadow
No brush
with velveteen
vulnerable
acts of tenderness.

Dragons and starlings
seem nearer
in the dancey mists

Love is uncovered
in a smile
at first light…
Is that enough?

December Light at Spillwords.com

December Light
written by Iulia Halatz

December is what we are
When love glistens back
the light in the baubles.

We have the White and the Words.
Words that move mountains
tiptoe to touch the stars
whet the wondrous luster of the sea
travel with the wind
glimmer with the moon
Feel not the rejection and foible
of the world.

Words are a soft warm pillow
on which I rest
my threadbare soul
that trod naked
on paths of ice
and thorns.

Words keep my bloodshed
clean on a stave
and in hues of red
a song is made…

Song of Spring

Song of Spring
by Iulia Halatz

Written for the Anthology Volume I: Writings from the Sudden Denouement Literary Collective

Spring is a princess
without voice
only fingers
to mix colors
in the rainbows.

She’s got a vessel
for the softest fragrance
pressed in archives
in the Library of Scent…
There are plums
the cherries
and the blooms of vines
escalating
on the earth’s shelves…

Anyone who writes down
to Spring
is simply wasting
a leaf of scent.

No one is ever so poor
as not to write up
music
to all the shades of Spring
and to the dancing stars
to give a gift
of chaos…

“If your expectation is a slim volume of precise poems according to a clever little theme, you’ll be deeply disappointed by SD’s offering. Poetry at SD isn’t nice and tidy, it isn’t precise or easily categorized, nor does it intend to leave you peaceful. As Iulia Halatz says in her poem What Can I Give You?Not by blindness / we can reorder colors / but by the painting of a soul.” There is absolutely nothing here that is calm or apologetic, nor will any writer be careful with your sensibilities and spare you the brunt of their truth.” – excerpt from Candice Louisa Daquin’s review of the Anthology

Iulia Halatz “Trapeze Artist of the Moon”

Trapeze Artist of the Moon

“You are in the dark because you are trying too much” – Aldous Huxley

Olden song whispers
in my ear
Able to echo
over the dark milieu
Faint copy of the prudish light
carved in black and blue curlicue
Remotely feeding
the smallness of the evening

The grafter of the moon
loves as if
Love is green silk,
translucent mud
And confession
of slow springs

The whole world
sings in a lily-of-the-valley
Whose tongue is numbed
by the language of the night…
Spoken beauty is never true
It is the paleness of a memory
enlivened
in the protection
of the saffron mornings
Aided by ghosts,
cinders of fear
and abysses
found
While we walk
in ourselves…

The silvery evening
is an intensity
and an immensity.
You live as if
life is a dance
We’d live as if
life is a kiss
from flickering flames
mauve twilights
and festering wishes.
Tentative frosts
cover the shoots
of your dreams
with ice…

We are the masters
of two small islands:
One of carton trees
and hollowed plastic flowers
and One
where the moon lives.

In her eyes
the thawing vernal lights
Endure…
