One of my May articles on Fragrantica is a review of the unexpected Oud Zarian Creed.

I missed out on this fragrance last year and so also on this new rose type in my collection: the dusty dune rose. It could be, for a person with my imagination, the rose that has sprung from the spice dunes of the desert planet of Dune. The rose is rather hard to perceive in Creed’s Oud Zarian at the very beginning of the fragrance, as it is covered in a blanket of colorful spices, each singing its own tune.

Oud Zarian is like a painting: in one corner there are the dunes covered in powdery roses whose vintage glare is deepened by chocolatey, dense, 80-year-aged Oud Choron, which bestows an aromatic, almost animalic warmth. In another corner, a savage, lush garden with greenery from all over the planet.

The Rose Centifolia that blossoms at its heart is tender and shy, but it bestows a certain tension, as if we were watching the plush bloom opening under the glimmer of the May sun.
