This year in writing: Colors of ENHALA – Part 2

ENHALA was truly lovely and captivating. What I liked most was the enthusiasm radiating from everyone and everything, along with the vibrant mix of colors and joyful people. Sometimes, life shifts from strict individuality to a contrasting tendency. It resembles the atmosphere of a colorful painting, which, as a whole, forms a dazzling arrangement. It felt like living in that painting during the event.

It felt a protected place full of joy and the vibration of new things yet to be discovered. It was a sea of calm yet bustling activity. I loved it. Like medicinal, comfortable vanilla, and boozy and ambery notes all over…

The show took place in three spaces; two were adjacent to the huge Gringotts lobby, and another one was in a very lovely room on the first floor. I have participated in other events in the same space.

💥 The Month Of Love: Perfume Selection

One of my latest articles on Fragrantica discusses love translated into fragrances (or the other way around …)

Yes, I am of the opinion that love is sweet turbid chaos. I have this in mind when discussing the celebration of love in my country too.

The power of love is unparalleled. It should be honoured every day, not just in February. I believe love and perfumery share magical abilities that can only be destroyed by the passage of time.

We cherish love in Romania on February 24th, when we celebrate Dragobete, our Valentine’s Day. Dragobete comes from the word “Dragoste,” the Romanian word for love.

Dragobete, the god of youth, joy, and love, has ancient origins. Dragobete, the patron of love and good disposition, was also known as the “Head of Spring,” the “Son of Baba Dochia,” “St. John of Spring,” or “the fiancé of the birds” in Romanian popular tradition, and was associated with the ancient gods of love. The holiday of love was celebrated in Romanian villages through several ritual practices that marked the end of winter and the beginning of spring, when people resonate with the rebirth of nature.

💥VLAD by Filippo Sorcinelli: Review

VLAD is the new fragrance by Filippo Sorcinelli, launched as a collaboration with Niche Parfumerie.

’A great writer of fiction both creates—through acts of imagination, through language that feels inevitable, through vivid forms—a new world, a world that is unique and individual, and responds to a world, the world the writer shares with other people but is unknown or misknown by still more people, confined in their worlds.’ -American writer, filmmaker, and intellectual Susan Sontag (1933-2004).

I guess this definition aptly incorporates the fragrant story of VLAD. It creates a new world and responds to a world full of unseen and unsung wonders. Filippo Sorcinelli, with clear-sighted authenticity, both illuminates and darkens one of Romania’s greatest myths.

💥Tonka Latte Parfums Dusita: The Great Expectations of Paris Mornings

Tonka Latte is not a typical Dusita fragrance and is a challenging gourmand, in my opinion.

It makes me think of the most beautiful spring mornings when the air is so light that it touches the very white clouds in the big blue sky.

Tonka Latte has impressed me so much, and I maintain my opinion that whether the fragrances capture faraway lands or modern landscapes, there is an achingly beautiful, unmistakable continuity in Pissara’s outstanding creativity, which always speaks to the imagination of the wearer.

✳️ Fragrantica authors choose the best perfumes of 2025!

🌟 2025 was an absolutely exhilarating year. It was filled with perfume travels, new creations, new brands, and fresh themes in perfumery. My overwhelmed senses dictate my opinions, which tell me that this year was defined by roses and gourmands. The roses I encountered this year were bold, unexpected, unruly, and remarkably unique.

🌟 I stand by my opinion that Aqua Allegoria Rosa Verde Guerlain is one of the best roses of the year—and perhaps the best fragrance overall. It marks a new chapter in the vast history of rose perfumes. The greenness and freshness of this rose seem almost unmatched by ordinary standards. It is a very realistic herbal scent that carries a watery bounty in the form of countless flowers, green sprouts, and shiny new leaves—not just the rose itself. It conveys the relaxing and soothing aromas of a fully bloomed garden that has never known drought.

One of my last year’s articles on Fragrantica was about fragrances for hangovers.

I enjoyed writing it immensely, and I absolutely agree with the motto:

“No poem was ever written by a drinker of water.” – Horace

On a more personal note, I quit drinking because alcohol consumption stands in my path toward losing weight.

Still, I will be having Retsina in Greece and Portuguese wine in Germany.

Pissara Umavijani Has Launched La Rhapsodie Noire in Bucharest at the Marmorosch.

💥 This year has been an exciting year for Romanian perfumery, not only because of the numerous new launches, but also because of the fragrant events that have taken place in my country.

💥 With great pleasure and enthusiasm, I received the news from Pissara Umavijani about her launch of the new La Rhapsodie Noire in Bucharest.

💥 The event was held in the spectacular Marmorosch Hotel, an historic building that formerly housed the offices of the Marmorosch-Blank bank. Founded in 1848 by banker Jacob Marmorosch and his brother-in-law, Jacob Loebel, the organization quickly rose to become the most influential bank in Romanian history. On January 1, 1864, Jacob Marmorosch partnered with Mauriciu Blank to form the new bank with its well-known name. It is remembered for its significance in the early 1920s, its involvement in Romanian politics, and its bankruptcy in 1931.

“It was an overwhelming experience, and I advise everybody to go there with open eyes. The most bohemian flair lurks on every corner, and for me, this city is young at heart. It reminded me of my student years, which were dreamy. And above all, the linden flower scent was so present and physical I could almost touch it. I believe that the linden flowers are the symbol of Berlin, having the same audacity as the barbarians who can chase away any other “alien” scents from the citadel.”

✨In 2015, the peony was declared the National Flower of Romania. On “Romanian Peony Day,” an annual festival held on May 15th, several peony species are showcased in gardens throughout the country. Furthermore, scientific conferences to discuss the biological and aesthetic traits of various kinds of peonies are held. Finally, artistic organizations host art shows to honor and commemorate the flower.

✨The peony is the national flower of Romania because, in Romanian culture and tradition, it stands for the strength of love, self-sacrifice, and bloodshed. As a result, the military selected this flower to signify appreciation and honour for veterans of war. We have lived on the pathway to war since we can remember. In all the families here, there are ancestors who fought in the wars or died in one.
