Spring is my renaissance season before my favorite, the long and good summer. It is a celebration of life and light and a pause before the green dominance of trees, leaves, and blooming trees. Spring starts by plundering my heart with cold, unsteady winds and flickers of white and blue flowers. Then, the metallic glow of Forsythia tells us that everything is right with the world.

✨In 2015, the peony was declared the National Flower of Romania. On “Romanian Peony Day,” an annual festival held on May 15th, several peony species are showcased in gardens throughout the country. Furthermore, scientific conferences to discuss the biological and aesthetic traits of various kinds of peonies are held. Finally, artistic organizations host art shows to honor and commemorate the flower.

✨The peony is the national flower of Romania because, in Romanian culture and tradition, it stands for the strength of love, self-sacrifice, and bloodshed. As a result, the military selected this flower to signify appreciation and honour for veterans of war. We have lived on the pathway to war since we can remember. In all the families here, there are ancestors who fought in the wars or died in one.

💥One of my recent articles on Fragrantica discusses Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria Rosa Verde, which is not actually a “green rose.”

✨I greatly enjoy rose fragrances, and I write a piece about the rose discoveries of each year. I still support my old belief that when I finish discovering all the fragrant roses in perfumery and writing about them, maybe the stars will start disappearing. Of course, this is an inside joke based on Arthur Clarke’s fascinating story.

✨Furthermore, a “green rose” would be my long-sought scent. Green is my favorite color, and I expect a green rose to be imbued with magic sap, a kind of “gypsy water,” a traveling elixir, a combination between a wild creature of the forest grown in the mystical shades and a tender flower saturated by the light and warmth of the sun.

This is my list of the bests of Esxence 2024, starting with my favorite holiday spot, Greece, the champagne to toast its beauty under the star-lit sky, while looking up at Wega, sniffing the sugary roses of this garden of Eden full of trees with ripe fruits and flowers, juicy cherries, and gazing at forest clearings filled with happy violets. The perfect cosmic and earthy chaos and whirlpool of perceptions, according to the Paradise Lost and Found theme of Esxence this year.

The power of love is unparalleled. It should be honored every day, not just in February. I believe love and perfumery share magical abilities that can only be destroyed by the passage of time.

We cherish love in Romania on February 24th, when we celebrate Dragobete, our Valentine’s Day. To be honest, we did not care two straws about Dragobete until Saint Valentine was upon us from other cultures, but this is not a piece on human nature. Dragobete comes from the word “Dragoste,” the Romanian word for love.

Dragobete, the god of youth, joy, and love, has ancient origins. Dragobete, the patron of love and good disposition, was also known as the “Head of Spring,” the “Son of Baba Dochia,” “St. John of Spring,” or “the fiancé of the birds” in Romanian popular tradition, and was associated with the ancient gods of love. The holiday of love was celebrated in Romanian villages through several ritual practices that marked the end of winter and the beginning of spring, when people resonate with the rebirth of nature.

⚡️Again, I find it difficult to write about myself. There are a few people that have drawn some advantages out of this.

✨Most of all, I am a dreamer with a plan.

☀️ So far, almost all my dreams have come true. 

🌴As far as I can see, it’s possible that my ultimate dream of permanently writing on a beach is on the verge of becoming a reality.

⚡️For everything I ever wanted I thought carefully in order to understand if I really want that, then I rummaged about the plan. In everything, I use my skills, the things I do best to craft something that might appear to be far-fetched, but it usually comes out right, because I work very hard.
