Colors of ENHALA, The First Perfumery Event in Bucharest – Part 1

The venue for this first fragrant event has been beautifully selected: the Marmorosch, a historic building in Bucharest that once served as the headquarters of the Marmorosch Blank Bank.

The Marmorosch Blank Bank Palace was built between 1915 and 1923, in a neo-Romanian style, with Byzantine and Gothic influences. The building is listed as a historical monument in Bucharest. The construction was commissioned by Marmorosch Bank, Blank & Co., one of the most important Romanian banking institutions of the 1920s, owned by Iacob Marmoroch and Mauriciu Blank.

Yes, I am of the opinion that love is sweet turbid chaos. I have this in mind when discussing the celebration of love in my country too.

The power of love is unparalleled. It should be honoured every day, not just in February. I believe love and perfumery share magical abilities that can only be destroyed by the passage of time.

We cherish love in Romania on February 24th, when we celebrate Dragobete, our Valentine’s Day. Dragobete comes from the word “Dragoste,” the Romanian word for love.

Dragobete, the god of youth, joy, and love, has ancient origins. Dragobete, the patron of love and good disposition, was also known as the “Head of Spring,” the “Son of Baba Dochia,” “St. John of Spring,” or “the fiancé of the birds” in Romanian popular tradition, and was associated with the ancient gods of love. The holiday of love was celebrated in Romanian villages through several ritual practices that marked the end of winter and the beginning of spring, when people resonate with the rebirth of nature.

VLAD is the new fragrance by Filippo Sorcinelli, launched as a collaboration with Niche Parfumerie.

’A great writer of fiction both creates—through acts of imagination, through language that feels inevitable, through vivid forms—a new world, a world that is unique and individual, and responds to a world, the world the writer shares with other people but is unknown or misknown by still more people, confined in their worlds.’ -American writer, filmmaker, and intellectual Susan Sontag (1933-2004).

I guess this definition aptly incorporates the fragrant story of VLAD. It creates a new world and responds to a world full of unseen and unsung wonders. Filippo Sorcinelli, with clear-sighted authenticity, both illuminates and darkens one of Romania’s greatest myths.

A perfume is made of the Trinity: the juice, the story, the bottle. As our reviews are focused on the first two, what about the bottle? I have written that, for me, simple bottles are an incentive to try the juice inside. What about the very interesting, different, overly adorned bottles or the flacons that are part of the story, sometimes even the starting point of a fragrant fantasy?

People who buy perfume nowadays are more thoughtful than they were in the past. When making a buying choice, there are more things to think about. With the rise of sudden TikTok hits and a greater focus on ingredient openness, the fragrance market has been going through a lot of changes lately. These changes point to a perfume buyer who is approaching goods, relationships, and purchases in a new and different way. According to some research, packaging has an impact on 72% of consumers’ purchasing decisions.
