Pissara Umavijani Has Launched La Rhapsodie Noire in Bucharest at the Marmorosch.

💥 This year has been an exciting year for Romanian perfumery, not only because of the numerous new launches, but also because of the fragrant events that have taken place in my country.

💥 With great pleasure and enthusiasm, I received the news from Pissara Umavijani about her launch of the new La Rhapsodie Noire in Bucharest.

💥 The event was held in the spectacular Marmorosch Hotel, an historic building that formerly housed the offices of the Marmorosch-Blank bank. Founded in 1848 by banker Jacob Marmorosch and his brother-in-law, Jacob Loebel, the organization quickly rose to become the most influential bank in Romanian history. On January 1, 1864, Jacob Marmorosch partnered with Mauriciu Blank to form the new bank with its well-known name. It is remembered for its significance in the early 1920s, its involvement in Romanian politics, and its bankruptcy in 1931.

The lingering question, for me, is: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠?

I have had thousands of cold business meetings, and what I have learned is that the first impression is of the utmost importance. Besides a pleasant, soothing, classy, delicate, mysterious-fading fragrance, it is a very good idea to wear a very big smile and show no emotions but enthusiasm. Ensure you are well-prepared for everything, including potential questions and objections, and be ready to face unpleasant situations, without letting your mood falter.

One of my latest articles on Fragrantica is the review of Vulcan Baie by French Avenue.

“Before this first encounter, I never tested any French Avenue fragrances. I had no expectations, either positive or negative. I chose Vulcan Baie first of all because of the serpent on the fragrance box. I have a fondness for snakes.

I am not keen on overly decorated perfume bottles in general; I am more on the simple side of things. I am primarily interested in the liquid, although I do find the box featuring the serpent quite appealing. Indeed, we see what we’d like to see. I thought initially that the box was like putting on a show. I was wrong; the fragrance is a show in itself, both calming and joyful. I should mention that the photos of the fragrance bottle were taken by me and have not been altered with filters or other enhancements..”

Iulia: “I do not like Autumn. It is a permanent reminder that the shimmering, sun-filled days are over, and I have to embrace the gloomy and darker season, when grim twilights start at 5 PM. I feel like I should find shelter, like mushrooms, in the shade and darkness of wet soil. The most beautiful day of the year for me is the last Sunday in March when we adjust our clocks to the daylight saving time of the summer season, the first long day of the year. I usually bask in the timid light of that magnificent day, which symbolizes for me the beginning of summer. I associate the longer days of spring and summer with freedom. Freedom to enjoy the outdoors, the parks, forests, and every trip is a magical adventure full of possibilities. This encapsulates my love for the warm season.

Autumn is a different way of looking at things, a much simpler way. But I do enjoy the pleasurable mellow light ignited by colder nights and eerie mists that carry the whispers of the earth. When the sky looks like this, I know that autumn is upon us.”

💥Facebook reminded me of my article on Fragrantica focused on leathery enigmas, which are fragrances that don’t feel like leather, but rather like irresistible fragrant concoctions.

💥What leathery fragrances are your favorites?

💥Leather fragrances for me are the same as vanilla ones, about which I have written in my article “Vanilla Fragrances: Curioser and Curioser” about those by Aromatic Scent Lab, which impressed me greatly.

💥They are an acquired taste. But I never refuse a challenge. Consequently, I will immerse myself in two intriguing leathers that have highlighted my summer: Thekrayat Emirates Pride Perfumes and Secret Leather Aromatic Scents Lab. They create two distinct mental environments for me.

Crème Ébène: Reflections on an Indulgent Present and a Touch of POAL

One of my latest articles on Fragrantica is dedicated to another Nicolai Parfumeur Createur gem, Crème Ébène.

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them—that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward however they like.” — Lao Tzu.

I am living the sweet present of my own making. Even if occasionally I might forget how fortunate I am, a new fragrant creation will remind me of feeling lucky and carefree sitting next to an (imaginary) plate of something delicious. This is how I feel about gourmand fragrances.

In my opinion, Crème Ébène feels deep and dense, like Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle (POAL) without the rose. The magnetic rose in POAL is replaced by an enthralling combination of dates, saffron, white flowers, cardamom, and a resinous glance, which adds sparkles to the whole fragrance.

Crème Ébène is the gourmand brother of POAL.

My latest article on Fragrantica is about the Vibrant Colors of Pitti Fragranze 2025!

“My article about the first day of Pitti was written as soon as possible. For this second piece, I had little time to look around at the beauty of this ancient city. I have never understood why Rome is called the eternal city, though I would not contradict the wisdom of the ancestors.

Surrounded by Florence’s beauty, I sense that a hundred Florences are whispering above the Arno, alongside the self-embracing hills that herald serenity under the warm, rusty light of the Tuscan sun.

The first brush with Florentine smells and views is as pleasurable as the simple and unspoilt happiness awakened by the melting caramel on a child’s tongue.

I guess that the beauty of Florence influences the artistry and the design of Pitti Fragranze. It cannot be plain.”
