La mulți ani de Mărțișor!

Happy Mărțișor everyone!

La mulți ani de Mărțișor! O primăvară frumoasă!

“Mărțișor is an old tradition celebrated all over Romania every year, on March 1st.
The name Mărțișor is a diminutive of March (Martie in Romanian). It is believed that the person who wears the red and white string would enjoy a prosperous and healthy year.”
Mărțișor was inscribed in 2017 on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Let’s celebrate with an article about Romania and its beauty (written for Fragrantica)!

La mulți ani, România!

Romania is a vast garden surrounded by lush forests, where seasons change, swept away by the winds, and people used to live in perfect harmony with the changing surroundings.

…………….

That is the Romanian essence: gorgeous, daring, perilous, and mysterious… What I like is its unpredictability and the fact that we still live close to natural landscapes. At my house in Transilvania, I feel like the forests are clinging to my window. And they sparkle in hues of gold and silver, depending on the part of the day. And the shepherds still guard the sheep, grazing and moving by the forest’s side, as they have been doing for centuries.

……………..

Romania’s land area is 92,046 square miles, with the majority of it made up of mountains and undulating hills covered in thick forests. The Carpathian Mountains form Romania’s northern border, while the Danube River runs through the country’s south. There are several lakes in Romania. Lake Razelm, located near the Black Sea and regarded as one of Europe’s most beautiful natural lakes, is one of them. There are also several well-known national parks, including Retezat National Park, which contains some of Central Europe’s few unique alpine habitats.
