The power of love is unparalleled. It should be honored every day, not just in February. I believe love and perfumery share magical abilities that can only be destroyed by the passage of time.

We cherish love in Romania on February 24th, when we celebrate Dragobete, our Valentine’s Day. To be honest, we did not care two straws about Dragobete until Saint Valentine was upon us from other cultures, but this is not a piece on human nature. Dragobete comes from the word “Dragoste,” the Romanian word for love.

Dragobete, the god of youth, joy, and love, has ancient origins. Dragobete, the patron of love and good disposition, was also known as the “Head of Spring,” the “Son of Baba Dochia,” “St. John of Spring,” or “the fiancé of the birds” in Romanian popular tradition, and was associated with the ancient gods of love. The holiday of love was celebrated in Romanian villages through several ritual practices that marked the end of winter and the beginning of spring, when people resonate with the rebirth of nature.

💥Question Of The Week: 1,000 True Fans? . More than a decade ago, Wired editor Kevin Kelly wrote an essay called “1,000 True Fans,” predicting that the internet would allow large swaths of people to make a living off their creations, whether an artist, musician, author, or entrepreneur. Rather than pursuing widespread celebrity, he argued, creators only needed to engage a modest base of “true fans”—those who will “buy anything you produce”—to the tune of $100 per fan, per year (for a total annual income of $100,000). By embracing online networks, he believed creators could bypass traditional gatekeepers and middlemen, get paid directly by a smaller base of fans, and live comfortably off the spoils.

💥What is unique selling point (USP)?

✅A unique selling point (USP), also called a unique selling proposition, is a marketing statement that differentiates a product or brand from its competitors. A USP might boast the lowest cost, the highest quality, the most experience, the first in its product class or another trait that sets the offering apart from the competition. A unique selling point can be thought of as “what you have that competitors don’t.”

✅A successful USP promises a clearly articulated benefit to consumers, offering them something that competitive products can’t or don’t offer. The USP should also be compelling enough to attract new customers. It carefully balances what the customer wants with what the business does well or what it can deliver that the others cannot. The idea is to make the product or brand stand out from the competition in some unique way. The USP should appeal to what the customer cares about and clearly differentiate the company’s offering from everyone else.

💥What Is Liability Management?

🔔Liability management is the practice by banks of maintaining a balance between the maturities of their assets and their liabilities in order to maintain liquidity and to facilitate lending while also maintaining healthy balance sheets. In this context, liabilities include depositors’ money as well as funds borrowed from other financial institutions.

🔔 A bank practicing liability management looks after these funds and also hedges against changes in interest rates. A bank can face a mismatch between assets and liabilities because of illiquidity or changes in interest rates; and liability management reduces the likelihood of a mismatch.

✅Liability management is the process of managing the use of assets and cash flows to reduce the firm’s risk of loss from not paying a liability on time.
✅Well-managed assets and liabilities involve a process of matching offsetting items that can increase business profits.
✅The asset-liability management process is typically applied to bank loan portfolios that may offer fixed-term products such as CDs and loans but also demand deposits and lines of credit.
✅Defined-benefit pension plans may also use liability management to ensure it does not experience a cash shortfall for paying its future and current obligations.
