Happy World Book and Copyright Day!

✨ The date of April 23 was chosen by UNESCO in 1995 because it coincides with the death anniversaries of several renowned authors, including William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. This symbolic date pays tribute to books and authors worldwide, encouraging everyone to access books.​

✨ The idea for the holiday originated in Catalonia, Spain, where it has been a tradition since the 1920s to give a rose for every book sold on “St. George’s Day” (La Diada de Sant Jordi).

World book day 2025: This year’s theme for World Book and Copyright Day is “The role of literature in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.

For World Book Day I nominate the book that made me travel. The words were so powerful that made me live in the truth of its images, walk the paths of love, anger and anguish of the telltale hearts roaming a world without maps… And I felt the desert, dissipating in my veins, the blood throbbed of life and traveling sand.
