✳️ Fragrantica authors choose the best perfumes of 2025!

🌟 2025 was an absolutely exhilarating year. It was filled with perfume travels, new creations, new brands, and fresh themes in perfumery. My overwhelmed senses dictate my opinions, which tell me that this year was defined by roses and gourmands. The roses I encountered this year were bold, unexpected, unruly, and remarkably unique.

🌟 I stand by my opinion that Aqua Allegoria Rosa Verde Guerlain is one of the best roses of the year—and perhaps the best fragrance overall. It marks a new chapter in the vast history of rose perfumes. The greenness and freshness of this rose seem almost unmatched by ordinary standards. It is a very realistic herbal scent that carries a watery bounty in the form of countless flowers, green sprouts, and shiny new leaves—not just the rose itself. It conveys the relaxing and soothing aromas of a fully bloomed garden that has never known drought.

One of my last year’s articles on Fragrantica was about fragrances for hangovers.

I enjoyed writing it immensely, and I absolutely agree with the motto:

“No poem was ever written by a drinker of water.” – Horace

On a more personal note, I quit drinking because alcohol consumption stands in my path toward losing weight.

Still, I will be having Retsina in Greece and Portuguese wine in Germany.

Wrapping up for the end of the year

🔷 I’m very busy these days, and what else is new?

It has been a very trying year, and I am speaking from a personal standpoint now.

From other perspectives, this year has been ordinary, very busy, and challenging. As it always is for me. But I do not mind. I like new things, new challenges, new projects, new places or old places and new outlooks.

Unfortunately my personal problems got in the path of business development projects, and that was not good.

I have forgotten a bit that in my professional life, I usually have a carefully and thoroughly thought-out plan that helps me achieve what I want.

For example, my political career was the result of such a plan. I joined the party in 2019, and in 2020 I was elected city council member. Allegedly, I stood no chance in that, but with the help of my strongest skills—writing and the power of presentation—I designed a plan. It was not luck; it was a very clever plan based on what I can do best. And A LOT of work.

PS: I am no longer a city council member because it was an assumed choice. I did not run for local elections in 2024.

🔷 Consequently, I am:

➡️ Devising a marketing plan

➡️ Revamping my websites

➡️ Setting up meetings and projects for next year

➡️ Developing a new project

➡️ Expanding my operations on a new platform

➡️ Exploring the potential of new AI platforms

➡️ Continuing my SEO strategy for my business

➡️ Designing my editorial plan for the year 2026, which I have already scheduled until March 2026.

🔷 Dictionary.com’s 2025 Word of the Year is 67

🔷 Each year, Dictionary.com’s Word of the Year and short-listed nominees capture pivotal moments in language and culture. These words serve as a linguistic time capsule, reflecting social trends and global events that defined the year. The Word of the Year isn’t just about popular usage; it reveals the stories we tell about ourselves and how we’ve changed over the year. And for these reasons, Dictionary.com’s 2025 Word of the Year is 67.

💡 If you’re the parent of a school-aged child, you might be feeling a familiar vexation at the sight of these two formerly innocuous numerals. If you’re a member of Gen Alpha, however, maybe you’re smirking at the thought of adults once again struggling to make sense of your notoriously slippery slang. And if it’s a surprise to you that 67 (pronounced “six-seven”) is somehow newsworthy, don’t worry, because we’re all still trying to figure out exactly what it means.

➡️ The origin of this most modern use of 67 is thought to be a song called “Doot Doot (6 7)” by Skrilla. (This is an opportune moment to mention that you may also see it written as 6 7, 6-7, or six-seven, but the most important thing is to never pronounce it as “sixty-seven.”) It was quickly reinforced by viral TikToks featuring basketball players and a young boy who will forevermore be known as the “67 Kid.” Within weeks, teachers were trading tips online about how to get their students to stop saying 67 all day long.

💡 And now for the moment adults around the world have been waiting for: What does 67 mean? Well…it’s complicated. Some say it means “so-so,” or “maybe this, maybe that,” especially when paired with its signature hand gesture where both palms face up and move alternately up and down. Some youngsters, sensing an opportunity to reliably frustrate their elders, will use it to stand in for a reply to just about any question. (“Hello, darling child, how was school today?” “67!”) A perfectly timed 67 signals that you’re part of an in-group, and if you’re already using its emerging spinoffs six-sendy and 41, you might be even cooler.

💡 Parasocial: involving or relating to a connection that someone feels between themselves and a famous person they do not know, a character in a book, film, TV series, etc., or an artificial intelligence:
➡️ parasocial relationship: Psychologists have long known that people can engage in parasocial relationships with fictional characters.
➡️ parasocial relation: Parasocial relations could bring the same benefits to young people as social relationships.
➡️ parasocial interaction: People who experience parasocial interactions (PSIs) come to consider media personalities, such as movie stars and influencers, as friends, despite having no interactions with them.
➡️ parasocial connection: Toddlers have a tendency to form parasocial connections with characters they encounter in TV shows.
➡️ parasocial grief: Grieving someone you’ve never met is called parasocial grief, and a lot of us are feeling it over the death of the young star.
