THE AWAKENING – Iulia Halatz

The song dreams along
with the fields
watered by the eyes
of the wettest dawn.

She feels empty
caught
in a web of stars
immenser than any sky
that ever sheltered Europe.

Her story is not written.
She lives in the not-knowing
Her mind crossed Rubicons
Scylla and Charybdis
are petrified
with
lyrics and dance.

She is all the things
She has ever loved:
scented wine,
the white and blue bustle
of spring
the forests dormant
under the scythed moon.
Her green thoughts
bear the celestial heavens
like so many miniature Atlases…

This world is strange
and under attack
of barbarous hearts
that have plundered
and seduced
bedazzled countries
and continents…

She is still not yours,
Still hiding in the
vapors of the tide…

“Like any artist without an art form, she became dangerous.” – Toni Morrison

“Be the one who cares, make words so disruptive that they create new worlds, hopes and dreams. Even if we are unhappy dinosaurs and find shelter in an Iron Tale or ruminate about feeling too much, whilst declaring colorless apparel, we should take power and strength from our stories.”

Child of Uranus
written by: Andrea E. Lodge

Over a thousand shades
of purple.
Without a definition.
Without definition.
Occurring between
the reds and the blues.
Where violets
mean nothing.

Andrea E. Lodge

My name is Andrea Lodge and I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with my boyfriend and my two, somewhat disabled cats. I graduated from Holy Family University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts. I studied Secondary Education/English and obtained my teaching certificate. After graduating, I taught middle and high school Writing and Literature for 6+ years, until becoming disabled. Now, I spend my days writing and consider my profession to be “writer,” though I have yet to have anything professionally published.
I have experience writing educational and informational pieces, though my passion is in creative writing. My main focus has been in poetry for many years. I have recently, however, returned to my roots, by writing fiction, something I did when I first started out. My strongest writing comes from things that are based on fact, so I have many pieces based on my own experiences that would be considered ‘Creative Non-Fiction,’ or ‘Memoir,’ and I am also working with my father to write his stories.

SORROW-TELL HEART- Iulia Halatz at Medium.com

I am proud to announce the publication of my first poem at Medium.com/Resistance poetry

My heart used to have roots
Into the feeble beams of autumn
After lilacs grew them stronger…
Can you pull me into April?
Or any month
wearing blue odors
And tawny lights…

Reward

“It is wrong to expect a reward for your struggles. The reward is the act of struggle itself, not what you win. Even though you can’t expect to defeat the absurdity of the world, you must make that attempt. That’s morality, that’s religion. That’s art. That’s life.”

Heavens to Betsy or Ivanhoe

The big city is on fire but not here.
Why must we live like bears
when we could be as proud as peacocks?
We sleep too much. We play dead.
Hibernating is for the birds. Paris is on fire
but here in Baltimore, people sleep.

Who we are

We are a bunch of philologists with degrees in English Language and Civilization with a passion for the English grammar. Correct phrasing makes us tick. Proofreading is in our blood. We live for writing right.

We are a digital marketing company based in Bucharest. We specialize in customized professional English courses and SEO copywriting solutions. We are enthusiastically local and intelligently global, covering web stories and courses for Romanian and international companies.

We cater for everybody who has a story to write.
We have time. We believe in Omoikane, the Japanese god of wisdom and insight, a deity capable of making decisions that we would make if we only had the time. We make good decisions and start writing for you in a jiffy. Of course, after our first meeting (in person or online) and after we have received your brief.

We have perseverance
. We love Kintsugi (translated as ‘golden joinery’), the centuries-old Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. We work, write and repair your web content until it is clear, clever, shareable and… invincible.

Find us more at www.seocopywriting.ro. We can wordbuild beautiful things together.

I illustrate with a Van Gogh because his paintings are the symbol of incandescent labor that lightens the path to perfection.

Iulia Halatz “Trapeze Artist of the Moon”

Trapeze Artist of the Moon

“You are in the dark because you are trying too much” – Aldous Huxley

Olden song whispers
in my ear
Able to echo
over the dark milieu
Faint copy of the prudish light
carved in black and blue curlicue
Remotely feeding
the smallness of the evening

The grafter of the moon
loves as if
Love is green silk,
translucent mud
And confession
of slow springs

The whole world
sings in a lily-of-the-valley
Whose tongue is numbed
by the language of the night…
Spoken beauty is never true
It is the paleness of a memory
enlivened
in the protection
of the saffron mornings
Aided by ghosts,
cinders of fear
and abysses
found
While we walk
in ourselves…

The silvery evening
is an intensity
and an immensity.
You live as if
life is a dance
We’d live as if
life is a kiss
from flickering flames
mauve twilights
and festering wishes.
Tentative frosts
cover the shoots
of your dreams
with ice…

We are the masters
of two small islands:
One of carton trees
and hollowed plastic flowers
and One
where the moon lives.

In her eyes
the thawing vernal lights
Endure…

Starlings – Jimmi Campkin

She told me; I want to tell you three things and I want you to shut up whilst I’m talking. Holding up a hand, she extended a finger as she counted. There’s a dream… a memory… and a verdict. They are connected, but I don’t know how.

“It is a time of tons of verbiage, activity, consumption. Which condition is better for the world at large I will not venture to discuss. But I do know, that many of those who are driven to this life are desperately searching for those pockets of silence where we can all root and grow. We must all hope we find them” – Mark Rothko

The Hardest questions

What Can you Do Today That You Could Not Do 1 Year Ago?

I have started with:
“Sit alone; sit quietly
Learn something new without any apparent practical benefit.
Ask individuals for bold feedback; ignore what you hear from the crowd.
Spend time encouraging other artists.
Teach, with the intent of making change.
Ship something that you created” – Seth Godin, The Icarus Deception

I have learned the ins and outs of political marketing as to “Learn something new without any apparent practical benefit.”

Later edit: I just thought I wouldn’t have any practical benefit, because starting this September I am local councillor elect.
