MASTER THE ART OF PRESENTATION: Start with a Villain

Many executives start presentations about products or initiatives with a vague theme statement, often expressed with as much pith as a puff of smoke: “We have a new focus on customer satisfaction,” or “Our current strategic goals are execution and innovation.” But this approach is not only lacking but lackluster. Did Shakespeare begin Hamlet by saying “This is a play about indecision”? Of course not.

Villains in business often aren’t animate. In the mind of the consumer, even mere frustration is a recognizable evil. Or the villain could be a transaction that is incomplete or unsatisfying (anything from a faulty product to cold coffee or warm ice cream). The victim is the customer or the person whose problem you’re trying to solve. And doing so will make your company or team the hero.
This villain-victim-hero framework can be applied across many industries.

Writing Tips

I have been asked to write more about copywriting and developing writings skills.

Plese read https://www.quora.com/profile/Iulia-Halatz/Writing-Prompts-That-Work-For-Me-Write-as-if-your-life-depends-on-it-On-first-impression-writing-is-an-activity-like

How I started writing

Storytelling is never easy. It was easier for me as I have formal training.
But I started writing later in my life.

First and foremost, you must love writing and enjoy the soft caress of your story. My stories come in waves. Whenever I start writing, I feel like living in the story I am building.
How do you do that?
In the initial stage of my writing life, whenever I did not know what to write and how to write, I used to describe paintings. Why?
Because painters do not describe feelings, they create sentiments. Therefore, in front of a beautiful painting, I attempt to replicate the artist’s intent through my own words.
For example, I wrote a poem, “My name is green,” while looking at a Van Gogh painting.

But you can never be a good writer unless you are a passionate reader. Words create magic in the pen of astonishing writers. Education is necessary to master this power, unless you’re Shakespeare.

Nevertheless, I write for pleasure and profit.
What could I do to make your writer’s life easier?

Are there processes, guidance, or tools you have in place to help your clients understand a wider context for your work? Or anything you would like to add to make their lives easier?

My love story with the sky

As a philologist, I am aware of books where the environment played a part and was assimilated with a character: Wessex, the imaginary county in Thomas Hardy’s novels, and in a more modernistic approach, New York in Sex and the City.

Thomas Hardy chose to set most of his work in an area he called ‘Wessex’, the name of one of the ancient Saxon kingdoms of England. The area covers mainly the South and West of the country. Here you can visit Hardy’s fictional settings such as ‘Christminster’, the Oxford of today, or ‘Melchester’, which is Salisbury, with its famous cathedral spire.

Most likely, the sky is the love of my life and the silent character, prevalent in all my days. I grew up looking up at the arabesque dance of the clouds, populated with the characters from the fairy tales I was reading incessantly. For me, and since I was a child, happiness is a bit of a sky that I truly own. During sunsets, I would sit and marvel at all the shapes and colors, thinking that my favorite fairytale characters lived in castles in the clouds or in lilac and rose gardens.

Nevertheless, I feel close to the heath in The Return of the Native in my love for the sjy.
Egdon Heath is the fictional part of Wessex (also fictional) in which The Return of the Native takes place. It is a large, uninhabited expanse covered with gorse and heather and few trees. The heath, which Hardy describes as isolated and lonely, resists civilization and is the dwelling place instead of the natural and the Celtic, pagan history of England. Edgon Heath has a way of resisting outside forces and keeping its inhabitants from leaving.

What about you? What is your secret escape realm?
